This industrial project was carried out at Barnes Construction in Suffolk, where CJB Scaffolding was commissioned by Barnes Construction to design and erect specialist access scaffolding across several key buildings, including the Administration, Visitor and Training facilities. The project involved internal and external scaffold platforms reaching heights of up to 20 metres, delivered over an 8-week period with enhanced security and compliance requirements.
Before any on-site works could begin, CJB Scaffolding’s operatives were required to complete enhanced DBS checks, CTC security clearance, and a 4-hour site induction, followed by an additional on-site briefing. These stringent protocols were vital due to the sensitive nature of the facility.
Once cleared, our team delivered external scaffold systems to enable the installation of large cladding panels on steel structures with minimal tying into the building fabric. Access was further complicated by strict health and safety timelines, requiring all designs, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) to be submitted and approved well in advance.
Internally, we constructed access platforms and lifting frames to assist with material handling, as well as stair towers for safe vertical movement. Operatives working in the Outage Building were also required to wear fire retardant overalls as part of the site’s enhanced PPE protocols.
